1. Recently: We want COMMITED COVICTION and not CONVENIENT RELIGION. God’s people give commitment of highest order: Lk 9:57-62, (14:25-33)
2. Salvation = Our Greatest path! (Phil. 2:12) Every step needed genuine commitment. Obeying starts in heart! (2 Chr 25:2, Rom 6:17,) God doesn’t want it unless committed!
3. Needed to realize when we flip flopped in obedience we lose benefit of obeying in first place!
A. Gal. 1:16, 3:1, Heb. 10:35-39, Mt. 6:24, 12:30
B. Let’s take a trip before saved and see how serious you were then compared to now!
I. WHEN FIRST BELIEVING YOU SAID “I WANT THIS MORE THAN ANYTHING”
- You knew step or two was empty! “Giving all or nothing!” = saving faith! Jas. 2:19
- Becoming unfaithful means pledge is halted! (2 Pet. 2:20-22) HOW STRONG IS YOUR FAITH TODAY COMPARED TP ___years ago!?
II. ARE YOU STILL COMMITED TO CHANGE AS WHEN FIRST REPENTED?
- (Rev. 2:4-5, Acts 26:20) 3 step process! Commit, really change, commit! (2 Cor. 7:10) Resolute! (Joel 2:12) (Mt. 3:7-10)
III. WAS YOUR FIRST TIME CONFESSING THE LORD YOU’RE LAST?
- “I believe with all my hear…” implies commitment to remain true. (T. 6:12)
- Martyr is whiteness who will not renounce testimony. (Rev. 2:13, 2 Cor. 9:13, Heb. 10:23)
IV. BAPTISM IS NOT THE LAST STEP TO MAKING CHIRST FIST IN LIFE.
- We use Rom. 6 to show necessity of baptism, Paul uses to show need for commitment WE MUST BE COMMITED TO THE NEW LIFE BAPTISM BRINGS US INTO!
- With heart where it needs to be baptism isn’t empty act. Longevity! (Rev. 2:10)
- Once you turned to God in unwavering commitment and broke decisively from past. If beginning required commitment, walking in He does too! 2 Tim. 2:12, Mt. 7:24
- How committed are you in obedience? Resolved to follow Savior? Motions no good unless obeying in heart! You gave much THEN! Why not now?
